What Are the Effects of Delta-8 THC?

Delta-8-THC is a cannabinoid found in cannabis that produces effects similar to delta-9-THC, the well-known psychoactive compound. However, the effects of delta-8-THC are milder and include relaxation, pain relief, and euphoria. Participants in studies reported low levels of cognitive distortions, such as altered sense of time, difficulty with short-term memory, and difficulty concentrating. Anxiety and paranoia were also reported but at low levels.

The natural amount of delta-8 THC in hemp is very low, so additional chemicals are needed to convert other cannabinoids in hemp, such as CBD, to delta-8 THC. The differences between the elements of the first set of experiences (relaxation, pain relief and euphoria) and the elements of the second set (cognitive distortions) had large statistical effects. Average statistical effect sizes were also seen in the differences between cognitive distortions and anxiety and paranoia.
