The Difference Between Delta 9 THC and CBD

The THC and CBD in Delta 9 are not the same thing, although both come from cannabis sativa plants. With the increasing attention in the cannabis industry around Delta 9 THC and its effects, it is important to understand the differences between Delta 9 THC and CBD. Combining Delta 9 THC with cannabidiol (CBD) can provide a range of benefits, such as improved calmness and better sleep. The combination of several phytocannabinoids in a CBD product helps create what is known as an entourage effect.

The Delta-9 in hemp is the same molecule as the common Delta-9 THC, so it will show up on a drug test. However, if the CBD product only contains small amounts of THC, it may not be detected. This is especially true if the CBD oil has not been tested or if there are issues such as cross-contamination or a loose extraction process. Certain cannabinoids have been found to counteract the negative effects of THC, such as CBC, CBD and Delta 8 THC.

The most popular are Delta 9 and Delta 8 THC, but there are also others such as Delta 3, Delta 7 and Delta 10 THC. Popular THC products include oils, vaping oils and vaporizers, capsules, gummies, concentrates and raw marijuana flowers. As THC is fat-soluble, a higher fat content requires more THC to produce the same effects. Surprisingly, administering THC after a single dose of CBD had almost the same effect on emotional perception as treatment with THC after placebo, as reflected in significantly higher depression and significantly lower extraversion scores.

Some users may prefer CBD without any type of THC due to its sensitivity to THC, regardless of the type of THC. Delta 8 THC is considered to have approximately half the psychoactive effects than Delta 9 THC and is much less likely to cause anxiety as a side effect. THC gummies usually provide a specific dose of THC per serving, such as 2 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg or 20 mg each. The toxic dose of THC is so high that it can only be achieved by injecting several milliliters of pure THC into the body.

Companies may vary but generally they mention the ratio in terms of CBD and THC: the first number is CBD and the second is THC. Products with a higher proportion of CBD and THC will have a milder psychoactive effect because they contain less THC in the formula. In many states where there is no legal use for adults, you can buy a 10 mg Delta-9 THC product if it comes from hemp but you cannot buy an identical product if the same amount of THC comes from regular cannabis. These findings show that acute CBD intake alone has no effect on healthy volunteers and that a single dose of CBD before administering THC was insufficient to mitigate the harmful impact of THC on the given environment.
